Description

The Hörner winery is located on the western outskirts of Hochstadt, on a settlement farm established in the mid-90s. The Hörner family has been cultivating vines for generations, and began bottling their own wine around 30 years ago. The wines come exclusively from the company's own vineyards, and today cover a total area of around 30 hectares. The Hörner family is committed to modern, close-to-nature viticulture, in which they almost entirely dispense with the use of herbicides and insecticides, and carry out complex foliage work by hand. Plants and soil are also handled with great care, so as to interfere as little as possible with the natural development of the wines. The vines grow on deep clay loess soils and benefit from a very good water supply from the loess sands. Even in hot, dry years, it's possible to produce fresh, fruity wines with good ageing potential.

The vintages are presented in the three segments Taurus, Capricorn and Aries - each with its own unique and distinctive design. The Taurus represents the entry-level range: straightforward and lively, simply simple; a pleasure to drink every day. Steinbock wines are the heart of the range, featuring a wealth of grape varieties. Thin and elegant, they have a sublime, even structure. From juicy Burgundy through yellow Muscat to fresh, spicy Sauvignon Blanc, the ambitious wine drinker will always find something to his liking. Aries wines represent the pinnacle of our creation. Complex structures that hit the bull's eye. Structured in filigree and impressively bold. In the best years, batches of grapes from selected vineyards are carefully vinified to produce great wines. Local oak demi-muids have been specially made for this purpose. We also use a large number of Burgundy oak barrels. After a long period of maturation on lees and without filtration, Widder wines are sometimes not released for sale until several years after the harvest.
