Welcome to Offenbach an der Queich, a charming local community in the district of Südliche Weinstraße in Rhineland-Palatinate. First mentioned in a document in 784, Offenbach an der Queich has been the seat of the local authority since 1 January 1972. The municipality has a population of just under 13,000, spread across the local communities of Bornheim, Essingen, Hochstadt and Offenbach an der Queich.
Bornheim is known as the birthplace of the Hornbach company and home to the stork centre, which provides comprehensive information about storks and the environment. Essingen can look back on over 7000 years of settlement history, as evidenced by the Wendelinus Chapel with its 15th century murals. In Hochstadt, the tower in the middle of the vineyards offers a marvellous view as far as the Odenwald or Black Forest on a clear day. The Wine and Knopp Festival in August is known far beyond the town's borders.
A unique speciality are the QUEICHWIESEN, which were declared an "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO in 2023 as "Traditional Irrigation in Europe". This centuries-old agricultural technique characterises the meadows along the Queich and has only been preserved in a few places in Germany.
