In 2011 Kirrweiler re-founded an old tradition: As a former so-called Oberamt in the Hochstift Speyer, a wine tithe went from Kirrweiler to Speyer for the first time since secularization. The local wine festival was given the name "Kirrweiler Weinzehnt" for this occasion. Traditionally, the Kirrweiler Weinzehnt is celebrated on the first weekend in July in the village center with lots of live music. Local clubs and winegrowers offer Palatinate specialties and Kirrweiler wine.
In 2022, the presentation of the wine tithe to Bishop Dr. Kalr-Heinz Wiesemann and Auxiliary Bishop Otto Georgens will take place one month before the wine festival on June 3, 2022 at 3 p.m. in Speyer in front of the cathedral.
By the way: The Kirrweiler Weinzehnt has been awarded the title "Palatinate Festival for All". A description of the festival can be found under: www.suedlicheweinstrasse.de/barrierefrei/pfaelzerfestefueralle/weinzehnt-kirrweiler
