Event cancellations in 2021
After careful consideration, the traditional events of our local community, such as the May Festival, the Kerwe, the Alsterweiler Brunnenkerwe and the garden market, will be canceled in 2021 to relieve the burden on the health system and to protect our citizens and guests. This was decided by the local council in its council meeting on March 16, 2021. This is also because it will take a few more months before the largest number of those willing to be vaccinated will be vaccinated. Contact-reducing measures will therefore continue to be necessary in order not to force the new spreading dynamics. Only in this way can we relieve our health system and do justice to the protection of our citizens and the guests of our local community. Some countries have had a bad experience of opening up quickly. Our events don't just start when they open. You have a long preparation time for all participating actors and the employees involved in the organization. The preparations require many meetings and discussions between the organizational teams. From the chairman's point of view, it would therefore be irresponsible and inadmissible to start the preparations and produce high costs. In order to secure the internally defined position of the local congregation, the chairman discussed this at a joint meeting with actors from the traditional events. It was unanimously agreed that there is no alternative to canceling the events, even if this is difficult.
