Martin's Loam Asparagus - The Loess Does It......


Contrary to the widespread myth that "asparagus loves sandy soil", we dared from the beginning to plant our asparagus in deep loess loam soil. Well aware of the often difficult conditions during cultivation and harvesting, we use, after many years of experience, the special abilities of this soil type to store nutrients and water over a long period of time and to return them to the plant as needed.

This characteristic gives our asparagus its uniquely fine and hearty taste, the so-called terroir of the clay soil.

With the help of modern film technology, we are usually able to harvest the first fresh asparagus as early as the end of March. It is also possible for us to react to strong weather fluctuations with the black/white technique in order to ensure the most uniform harvest quantities possible.

The fastest possible processing and short transport routes of our asparagus is a basic requirement for freshness and quality assurance. Thanks to automatic sorting equipment and cooling technology, we offer our restaurateurs and customers in the farm store freshly harvested and crunchy spears of this royal vegetable at any time.
