Evangelische Kirche

Pleisweiler-Oberhofen

Description

The church underwent extensive interior renovation in the 1970s. Since 1992, stained glass windows by the artist Ada Isensee have been playing with the incident light. The three choir windows are designed according to the themes of the Heidelberg Catechism (of man's misery; of man's salvation; of man's gratitude). The side windows recall baptism and the Lord's Supper, as well as the novel character of Nonnensusel, whom the writer August Becker has living in Oberhofen in his novel of the same name, and Martin of Tours, since the first church in Pleisweiler had St. Martin as its patron. On August 11, 2002, a baptismal font by the artist Mark Lorenz was put into use.
