Description

The small, romantic spa town, situated between the wine country and the Palatinate Forest, likes to seduce. All those who come here for the healing waters, the healing climate, the treatments and the wellness opportunities. And appreciate the extensive spa park and the cultural program. And all those who spend their vacations here and appreciate what distinguishes the town from other spas. That it is an inviting wine town and knows how to add an "in vino veritas" to the "mens sana in corpore sano". An eventful town history: It was shaped by the counts and dukes of Zweibrück. They built a moated castle on the Erlenbach in the 12th century. Today, the castle has disappeared and the palace stands in its place.

Strolling and walking: In the winding old town with its pedestrian zone, small stores invite you to browse, cafés to coffee and cake, fine Caroline parlins or sweet spa snails entice you. Who would like, takes a Schoppen in a cosy wine tavern. When the market is on Friday and Tuesday, a walk through the stalls is worthwhile. Through narrow streets, along the old city wall, you can walk to the Böhämmerbrunnen, to the Kurpark or directly to the Südpfalz Therme to relax.

Thanks to its stimulating climate, Bergzabern was recognized as a climatic health resort in 1958.

In 1964, Bergzabern was recognized by the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate as a Kneipp spa and given the name Bad Bergzabern.

In 1969/1970, the Petronella spring - a sodium-chloride thermal spring - was re-bored, followed by the construction of a thermal bath with a spa department (1972/1974). Reconstruction from 2004 to 2006.
