Burgruine Meistersel

Burgruine Meistersel
76857 Ramberg in der Pfalz

Description

Meistersel is one of the oldest castles in the Palatinate, probably built in the 11th century during Salian times. It was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. The chambers and cisterns carved into the rock are also noteworthy, as well as other castle ruins that are interesting from an architectural history point of view.

Directions:
It is best to follow the B10 road from Landau in the direction of Annweiler am Trifels. Shortly before Annweiler a. Tr., exit the B10 road and drive towards Ramberg. After passing through the village of Ramberg, after about 1.5 km you will come to the Drei Buchen car park and park there. Then cross the road and walk along the path to the right past the war graves memorial to the castle, which is about 1 km away, well hidden on the hilltop on the right.
