The fable fountain on the village square in Böchingen is reminiscent of the Kammertbau, a type of education in viticulture that was also cultivated in Böchingen (18th to early 20th century). On one of the pillars stands Armor, which symbolizes the leap into the new millennium with its arrow (1999 to 2000) and also stands for life and love. Fox and rooster stand for cunning as well as alertness and pride and also for the village population of Böchingen.
The water trickle illustrates the flow of time and that new things are created through movement. The fountain was designed and built in 1999/2000 by Burghard Knauf and Daniel-Moritz Lehr as part of the redesign of the village square. Since then, the village square has served as a meeting and event venue for many village festivals.
