Description

The winery presents itself as rather "small" and "manageable" with 13 hectares of vineyards. But this is precisely the key to success in producing individual wines. The site "Dörrenbacher Wonneberg" covers 132 ha and offers along the Haardtrand many different, multi-layered soils to select the best soil for each grape variety.

The mountains ( especially the Stäffelsberg with the 26m high tower ) of the Haardtrand protect our vineyards from wind and weather from the west. The constellation of mountains, slopes and different soils characterizes our mild microclimate.

With 65% white and 35% red grape varieties, the winery reflects the statistics of German viticulture.

As a sponsored member of the controlled environmentally friendly viticulture, the winery strives to pay the highest attention to the treatment of nature.

The goal in the vineyard is very clear: to obtain the perfect grapes with more and more manual work.

After flowering, the bunches are cut in half so that the remaining grapes are denser and more concentrated. The grape zone is moderately defoliated to ensure drying of the berries so that the grapes remain healthy and can ripen in peace. Healthy and well ripened grapes can then produce full-bodied wines.
