The Karl Schaefer winery was founded in 1843. In 1908, it was one of the founders of the Verband der Naturweinversteigererer (Association of Natural Wine Auctioneers), which later became the Verband der Prädikatsweingüter (VDP). The Karl Schaefer Winery has always been committed to only one maxim: to guarantee high-quality wine cultivation and development. Consequently, over almost two centuries, a portfolio of excellent sites has been built up and early on, modern cellar technology and large woods were used. Dr. Job and Nana von Nell, the sixth generation of the family, also feel committed to this tradition. The historic terraced sites are consistently managed ecologically. Careful handling of the soil through the use of few machines, a high degree of manual labour and a careful development of the wines in the cellar are a matter of course for them.
…. MEETS THE YOUNG CREATIVE
Johann Seibt, a "true" Palatine, studied oenology and viticulture at the University of Applied Sciences in Neustadt and gained experience in renowned companies in South Africa, Austria and Switzerland, among others, before he was drawn back to the Palatinate for love. During his professional career, he devoted himself in particular to the various forms of wine and sparkling wine production. Riesling, sparkling wine and Pinot Noir are among his hobbies.
Our young creative minds Johann Seibt and Patrick Müller, our winemaker for organic cultivation, stand for this in their own way - relaxed, self-confident and creative.
