Description

The church "St. Martin" in Dörrenbach has been a simultaneous church since 1684/85, i.e. it is used jointly by both denominations. Likewise, in ecumenical harmony, both denominations share the one altar and the one sacristy. A warm, Christian spirit also prevails during joint activities such as ecumenical devotions, church services or meetings.
Fortified church

The oldest part of the church, the lower part of the choir room, dates back to around 1300; the parts above it can be assigned to the late Gothic period (16th century).

Keyhole embrasures show that the tower was also used for defensive purposes. The church's eight-sided spire towers above it, visible from afar. A rarity is also the staircase tower with the "Lichterker", whose incident light was supposed to exhort to prayers for the dead and at the same time was considered a consolation for the bereaved.

Next to the large window from the early Renaissance, the outline of a bread measure can be seen. The sundial above the entrance door has lost none of its accuracy to this day.
