Waltraud Kappes, born in Wiesbaden
Profession: Chemical laboratory assistant, employed for several years in the laboratory for sparkling wine and wine analysis at the Henkell sparkling wine producer in Wiesbaden. I have lived in the Palatinate since 1980, for about 20 years in Rhodt unter der Rietburg and since 2007 in the beautiful town of Landau. For about 20 years I have been a tour guide for winery visits with sparkling wine tastings at Schloss Wachenheim AG, sparkling wine cellars in Wachenheim, Weinstraße.
Experience guide at the State Garden Show in Landau 2015, then with my own guided tour programme "the Südpark in Landau". Since 2009 culture and wine ambassador, training at the DLR in Neustadt, Weinstraße.
My focus and speciality is wine and sparkling wine. Scientific advances in oenological research in viticulture, regular visits to lectures, seminars and trade fairs, new findings, e.g. in wine stylistics, both nationally and internationally, are important and exciting for me.
Region/topic: The wine regions of the Southern Palatinate and the Mittelhaardt, the cultivation and development of wines, in particular sparkling wine, traditional methods and the southern park of Landau, these are the focal points of my guided tours. During wine and sparkling wine tastings, cellar tours at the winegrower's and wine hikes, I would like to bring my guests closer to the cultural asset of wine and inspire them.
