Trifterlebnispfad - Stone quarrying - Information board no. 17
Dry mountain slope for wet stone blocks
The quarrying of stone for the Trifter was carried out near the Legelbach valley, as here on a sunny mountain slope. Dry sandstone is harder than wet sandstone and does not break as easily when worked.
The raw stones were transported directly to the valley, where they were adapted and used. You can still see remnants of stone working in the terrain, mostly in the form of unusable material.
