Where Running Waters Turn into Wooge - Info Panel 12
Dam root biotope
Next to this woog is a small alder marsh and spring biotope in the inlet area. Where there were woogs before, there were previously flowing water or mire biotopes. The wet inlet areas, where different biotopes merge into one another, now serve as replacement biotopes for bog and water plants. Depending on the succession phase, wet, open areas or semi-open swamp forest occur. The biotic communities of these valuable habitats reflect the changing living conditions.
