Description

The St. Wendelinus Chapel in Essingen is a European cultural monument. Its building history dates back to the year 1280, when the chapel was first mentioned in a document. The choir of the chapel shows one of the few examples of medieval frescoes of our home country, which are still almost completely preserved today. The late gothic wall paintings - a gem of our southern Palatinate homeland - show among others the following representations: Adoration of the kings, Joseph's dream, Mary's legend "Annunciation", visitation "The Flight to Egypt", representation in the temple, Mary's death.
