Description

Silz is inviting you for holiday in this nice small village in the valley of Klingbach. It is located in the Biosphere Reserve Palatinate Forest - Vosgue du Nord. The small lake is an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature. In the surrounding castles like Lindelbrunn, Berwartstein, Landeck and Madenburg are interesting points following the hiking trails. Also by bicycle you can reach nice places, on the Klingbachradweg you come to the wine village Klingenmünster and then to the river rhine, and on the "Raubritterradweg" you discover the region "Südwestpfalz".

Discover the "Wild- und Wanderpark", where about 400 animals of 15 european species are at home. From April to October every day at 11 a.m. the wolves are fed. An attraction especially for kids is the play ground.

You can make a lot of interesting excursions around Silz, for example to the sandstone rocks around Dahn and to Alsace or to the Southern Wineroute. The thermal bath Südpfalztherme in Bad Bergzabern and the water park Felsenland Badeparadies are not far away either.

The "Schneckentreiwerkerwe" takes place on the 1st weekend of august. The nickname of the snails comes from the fact that the place is located in a flood plain surrounded by wet meadows, meandering through the three waters. Due to the topographical location and the associated evaporation, the moisture and the nightly dew lasts longer than elsewhere and thus favors the population of the snails, which need moisture to survive. This fact was recognized early, and brought the place to a nickname "Schnecketreiwer".
