The village of Merzalben has the old parish church of St. Peter and Paul at the cemetery, which is well worth seeing. There is a small statue of the Virgin Mary and very old grave crosses. The church and cemetery can be reached via Hauptstraße (stairs next to The Town Hall, where there is also a Wi-Fi hotspot) or Bischof-Emanuel-Straße. Not far from there, also on Bischof-Emanuel-Strasse, is the neat, new parish church Heilig Kreuz. Merzalben is idyllically situated in the Merzalbe valley below the Gräfenstein castle ruins, which gives the Gräfensteiner Land its name. You can spend the night in several beautiful holiday apartments or in the Burg Gräfenstein holiday village, which is located directly on the forest and is therefore ideal for hikers and mountain bikers in particular.
