Flanked by vineyards, the village with 500 inhabitants nestles on the south side of the Erlenbach. On the northern bank, idyllic alluvial meadows invite visitors to take relaxing walks. A prominent landmark of the village is the town hall with its bell tower visible from afar. The ensemble with community hall, youth room, fire station, children's playground and recreational area forms an attractive village center in a quiet location. The Kerwe is celebrated here every year at the end of August. The gas station in the village has a store with a baking station. The nearest train station is 1km away in Barbelroth. To Bad Bergzabern, which is only 5 km away, there is a bus line and also a bicycle path. Via the B 427, which runs through the village, the highway network can be reached quickly. In 2019 Oberhausen can celebrate its 800th anniversary of the village.
