The Felsenberg-Berntal nature reserve in the district of Bad Dürkheim (Rhineland-Palatinate) is located on a foothill of the eastern Palatinate Forest, it`s called Haardt, towards the Rhine plain. The area of about 300 hectares was placed under protection from January 2000 by legal decree of 20 December 1999. It consists of the Felsenberg and the Berntal. Part of the area near Herxheim had already been under protection since 1954 as the Felsberg National Park. The Herxheim karst cave in one of the mountain slopes is known for archaeological and biological finds.
