Description

In the course of time, the building was destroyed and rebuilt several times. The hermit Martin Schaaf expanded the Kolmerberg Chapel between 1804 1815 to its present form. In 1973 1975 it was renovated.

The Kolmerberg Chapel is a place with a very special aura. The goal of the pilgrims was and is the gothic picture of grace "The Mother of God", which originates from the 15th century. For the "Dörrenbacher" the Kolmerberg is an important place of their religious life. At this beautiful place in the forest, Catholic and Protestant Christians from Dörrenbach celebrate an annual "ecumenical pilgrimage festival".

Two pilgrimage festivals on the Kolmerberg every year

Ascension Day is organized as a family pilgrimage. With this first pilgrimage festival, the Sunday afternoon services begin at 4 pm. The Sunday services on Kolmerberg end with a pilgrimage to the "Exaltation of the Cross" on the second Sunday in September. On both pilgrimage feasts, a devotion takes place in the afternoon at 2 pm.

The Kolmerberg chapel as a place to stay and spend the night

The former hermit's dwelling of the chapel serves today as a place for groups and also individuals to spend the night and stay. The "Jugendheim" has a common dormitory with 18 beds; in addition, there is a separate 1 double room and 1 single room. Washroom and toilet are also included, as well as a kitchen and a recreation room.
