Klosterkirche St. Peter und Paul

Wissembourg

Description

All that remains of the Romanesque abbey is the square tower from the 11th century. The present church was mostly built at the end of the 13th century under the leadership of the abbot Edelin.

On the northern side of the church there is an unfinished High Gothic cloister, which is still preserved from the medieval monastery of Wissembourg. It is considered the most beautiful cloister of the Upper Rhine. There are the tombstones of the historically important abbots.
