Description

Originally, the Catholic parish was located in the town church. From the 17th century, the town church was used as a simultaneous church until the new Catholic church of St. Joseph was built. The new church building was planned by Joseph Köhler from Pirmasens. Inside the church there are stained glass windows by the glass painter Georg Brotzler from Speyer and frescoes by the painter Adolf Kessler from Godramstein, which were created in the 1950s.

The modern paintings on the window symbolise the holy sacraments of communion and baptism. The fresco in the church shows on the left the crusade sermon of Bernard of Clairvaux in 1146 and the departure of the crusaders for the campaign against Jerusalem, and on the right the Cistercian monks from Eußerthal serving the imperial jewels at Trifels Castle.

The Catholic church is part of the historical tour of Annweiler am Trifels.
