The limestone mine is a unique industrial monument and a special kind of museum. The underground world inside the mountain has its own unique charm. Guided groups of visitors take a mine train down a long, winding tunnel, where brick-lined vaults and roughly cut sections of rock contrast with bizarre ledges. The train journey ends as the tunnel widens to form large man-made caves, and a 300 metre tour begins 50 metres underground.
The insights provided are rounded out above ground with an exhibition featuring diagrams, tools and a documentary film.
The industrial monument in the depths of Königsberg is unique in Germany and always worth a visit.
Hint: Special guided tours during the Rhineland Palatinate holidays take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2 p.m. and require prior registration.

The tour lasts approx. 1 ½ hours.
We recommend that visitors wear sturdy shoes (there is the danger of slipping inside the mountain).
