"History Museum"
The spot, which has been settled for a very long time, still has many old buildings and structures that tell of history, in addition to the churches. If you are curious, you can trace the history of ownership of the older houses back 300 years in the community-owned museum "MerowingerKleinfischlinger / Geschichte unter uns" in Niedergasse 3 and also study the history of the inhabitants with their relationships. But the most spectacular is the exhibition of excavation finds from the earliest Middle Ages. 79 Franconian graves from the 6th and 7th centuries had to make way for the new development area. A careful excavation by Dr. Andrea Zeeb-Lanz of the GDKE Rhineland-Palatinate Directorate of State Archaeology Speyer brought many insights into the Frankish ancestors of the people of Kleinfischlingen. A large photo documentation of the excavation accompanied the presentation of the most interesting grave goods from jewelry to everyday objects.
Such deep insights into the world of our ancestors with their mature craftsmanship impress foreign visitors as well as local ones. In October 2017, another showcase with Celtic finds (ca. 500 BC) from the same excavation site will tell about the Celts in Kleinfischlingen. Opening hours: Every Sunday, from 11:00 to 14:00 and by appointment (Tel. 06347/8816).
