The Freedom Fountain in the town center was built in 1990 at the time of German reunification and stands as a symbol of freedom and peace. It is also a symbol of European unification. The coats of arms of the local village of Kirrweiler and the coats of arms of two French and one German partner municipality are carved into the fountain's base. The shape of the fountain is based on the former circular moated castle in Kirrweiler, which was surrounded by water.
