The rock cliff Katzenstein, is a two-part red sandstone rock, which is located above Weidenthal on a mountain ridge, the Himberg. It was given its name by the villagers because, seen from the village, it has the shape of a sitting cat. Today, the Katzenstein can no longer be seen from the village.

It can be easily reached via the circular hiking trail 10. A hike there is definitely worthwhile.
