Essingen is part of the Offenbach an der Queich community, and thus of the Südliche Weinstraße district.
Interesting sights include the Renaissance town hall dating from 1590, the historic center with its village square, and the Protestant and Catholic churches. The Wendelinus chapel, dating from 1280, features 15th-century wall paintings. The village's
Jewish history is also interesting: in the 19th century, around a fifth of the population was Jewish. The synagogue, built in 1821, was abandoned in 1937. The Jewish cemetery, the largest in the Palatinate with 1,700 gravestones dating from the 17th to 19th centuries, tells this story.
We look forward to your visit to Essingen!
