Description

The village of Dierbach is located about 6km east of Bad Bergzabern, far away from traffic, in the midst of beautiful vineyards. Dierbach belongs to the "Southern Upper Haardt", i.e. to the foothill zone of the Palatinate Forest. The district is cut by the "Dierbach" stream of the same name in a west-east direction. The course of the stream is meandering and is accompanied by a "gallery forest" suitable for the location, also in the area of the village. Compared to some neighboring communities, Dierbach has an enviable situation, because the traffic volume is very low even on the main road and does not pose any serious problems. Today, the community has about 580 inhabitants and has preserved its agricultural face in the village center. Many beautifully restored half-timbered houses and winegrowers' farms line the streets covered with vines. At the center of the village, in the shade of the old lime tree, seating invites you to chat at the fountain. The many efforts of the community to develop the village in an orderly manner were recognized in numerous prizes in the competition "Our village has a future".

The former agriculture was more and more replaced by viticulture. With 183 hectares of vineyards, Dierbach is the largest wine-growing community within the Bad Bergzabern municipality, to which it has belonged since 1972. On the remaining arable land, mainly corn and sugar beets are cultivated, which thrive excellently on a fertile and calcareous loess soil.

The "Federweißenfest mit dem Bauernmarkt" has been held annually for over 30 years and is a tourist highlight, but also a great challenge for the organizers and the community. Thousands of people from near and far then flock to Dierbach every day to enjoy the wine and Palatinate specialties. The growing popularity seems to be unbroken and makes our small town known far beyond the borders.

With two mobile home sites in an excellent location between the vineyards together with some guest rooms there are enough possibilities to stay in Dierbach. To explore the southern Palatinate to Alsace and the Palatinate Forest Dierbach offers a central location and an excellent starting point for hikes and bike tours.

All in all, Dierbach offers a lot of peace and quiet and a village idyll in a homogeneous natural landscape. This, together with the many kind and committed people in a functioning village community, makes our village so lovable and worth living in.
