The local community of Barbelroth is located "In the South of the Palatinate" in the district of Südliche Weinstraße, only 5 kilometers east of the spa town of Bad Bergzabern.
The village with about 650 inhabitants is connected to the traffic circle B427 / L544 and to the railroad line Winden - Bad Bergzabern, which was reactivated in 1995. The former tobacco village is characterized by old historic half-timbered buildings, some of which are listed, in the old village center, as well as manageable and traffic-calmed family-friendly new development areas.
With the transformation into a residential community, the social development also kept pace. In addition to the singing society, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2004, and the Oberhausen-Barbelroth play association, which celebrated its 85th birthday in the same year, other associations such as the farmers' and winegrowers' association, the village cultural association, the "Red Rooster" fire department association, the countrywomen's association, the nature conservation association, the equestrian association and the tennis section of the play association were added in the course of time. In addition to these associations, which in their entirety not only offer the local population a wide variety of leisure activities, the local community also faces up to social and political demands. Fast Internet, LED lighting and photovoltaic systems became part of the open-minded community at an early stage.
With the future-oriented planning of the building area "Im Sand", its own train stop and a day care center for children with all-day care, nothing stands in the way of a continuous further development of the village, which is oriented towards the needs of the population!
