The Rotenstein is a mighty and impressive colossus of red sandstone near Münchweiler an der Rodalb, which with its rustic refuge and the magnificent view of the southern Palatinate Forest to the Vosges is a place to rest, linger and relax let invites. It is located directly on the Münchweiler Höhenwanderweg and can be easily reached from the Sauweiher hiking car park at the end of the Konrad-Adenauer-Ring (free parking).
Attention: Within the adjoining core zone "source area of the Wieslauter", the protection provisions of § 7 of the state ordinance of the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve must be observed. Entering this core zone is only permitted on marked paths and at your own risk. Incidentally, the paths must not be left. Fallen trees and falling branches always remain in the core zones. Standing dead or dying trees are not felled. Therefore, falling branches or trees must be expected at any time and without prior notice. Paths and paths are no longer cleared or maintained, even if they may still be included in hiking maps. In emergencies, rescue operations are only possible to a limited extent and under difficult conditions.
