Family Relieving Service

Families with disabled relatives always have to deal with special challenges in their everyday family life.

Since 2005, Caritas Betriebsträgergesellschaft mbH Speyer has been meeting this great need with an outpatient support service for families with disabled relatives: the Family Relief Service Südpfalz.

The aim of the work is to support, accompany and relieve families and their relatives with disabilities in their everyday lives in the regions of Landau, Südliche Weinstraße, Germersheim and Neustadt. The comprehensive range of services is geared to the needs and wishes of the families concerned. All services are tailored to the individual skills and interests of people with a disability, especially for people with an increased need for care or assistance.

The FED is aimed at people with disabilities of all ages, from infants to pensioners, who live in their families and are cared for by their relatives. It is important to focus more on the respective social environment for participation opportunities. This requires new perspectives, creativity and unconventional patterns of action. Social space orientation is in demand. The inclusion of people with disabilities is the guiding goal, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
