The former upper middle-class living room is located in the preserved historical part of the citizens' house of Maikammer and, after extensive restoration work, presents itself as it did in its best time in the 19th century. Since 2007, the elaborate stucco work on the walls and ceiling, the original floorboards and the former intensive colouring of the walls have been painstakingly uncovered and restored. Still preserved furnishings, such as gold-plated mirrors and wooden elements, wall consoles and an artistically crafted tiled stove, were also restored and reintegrated into the room. The result is an impressive representative room, outstanding in its kind in the Palatinate, which reflects the glamorous lifestyle of wealthy citizens and landowners in the 19th century in a region characterised by viticulture and wine trade.
